Il mit la main dans son sac et en prit une pierre qu’il tira avec la fronde. Il atteignit le Philistin au front ; la pierre s’enfonça dans son front et il tomba la face contre terre. Ainsi David triompha du Philistin avec la fronde et la pierre : il abattit le Philistin et le fit mourir ; il n’y avait pas d’épée entre les mains de David. »

Christophe Charbonnel is a French artist, a powerful
sculptor, born in Nantes in 1967, who did however begin his artistic life as a cartoonist,
with a job at the Walt Disney studios in Montreuil, France. Fortunately for us, he quickly became aware
that his true calling was sculpture; he belongs to a lineage of sculptors whose
technique, learned in 1995 at the Duperré School in Philippe Seené’s studio,
consists of working with profiles. His series on Orpheus, with the present repost
(Orpheus IV) included, are quite mesmerizing.
